Dental caries is an insidious ailment that is often associated with dark lesions. Yet its initial development hides under the form of unsightly white spots on the surface of the enamel.
Although you do not feel the problem, if left untreated, it spreads deep into the hard tissues of the tooth, which can eventually result in pulp infection, defining the patient’s condition for endodontic treatment. When you visit our practice, you are assured that we will quickly identify the problem and save you from root canal treatment or even tooth extraction.
How do we work?
Caries diagnosis begins with an examination of the oral cavity using a dental mirror, a probe and a blower.
The initial carious spot is chalky white in colour and is clearly visible on the dried tooth surface.
Occasionally caries develops deep into the tooth tissue and a wing-bite radiograph is used to diagnose this.
Intraoral camera with caries detection function – thanks to the emission of laser light, carious lesions become visible in the form of dark planes and the image is immediately visible on the monitor. It is also an excellent tool for communication; thanks to high magnification, the patient can see for himself what the condition of their teeth is.
